Power Mac G5 Screens Locking Up
Power Mac G5 was the mainstream model of Power Mac series. Power Macs are the workstation-class Mac personal computers, which are based on different PowerPC microprocessors. Power Mac G5 contains IBM PowerPC G5 CPU which makes it fast in operations. The Power Mac G5 came in three models, which were different in features and performance but the physical casing was same in all.
Power Mac G5 screens become unresponsive for an interval of time and after a small stop, screen goes blue or black and then start working again. The problem is most frequent in Tiger and Leopard systems, where Mac recovery should be done. There can be different reasons and hence corresponding solutions which can be attributed for this behavior of Power Mac G5:
• One of the topmost reasons could be the third party software or haxie software conflicts. Haxie software name is given to those products which can insert code into programs of Mac OS X. These are typically designed for Application Enhancer software. So this is highly recommended to remove such utilities from systems. If it doesn’t fix the issue, you should reinstall Mac OS X. However, if this deletes the data as was placed on primary volume, retrieve it back through backup or Mac data recovery products.
• Another problem could be the malfunctioned graphics card. So you need to check whether replacing it with new solves the issue or not.
• If the graphic components are in good condition but are being overheated, then the display issues are the general symptoms. This is required that the system components including graphics cards should be well ventilated. Extreme dust contamination can also resist airflow.
• This is also quite possible that the logic board has gone bad. If the controllers which interact with the graphics card are being problematic, the above issues can be encountered. So, in such cases, logic board must be replaced.
