yes mate that shouldnt be a problem however you may need to upgrade the power supply that comes with the Compaq – Presario Desktop as these tend to come with basic power supplys in the region of 300watt to 400watt and with the NVIDIA GeForce 260 GTX requiring at least 500watts ( with 30A on the +12v rail ) this is a area which needs to be upgraded
the pci-express slot is fine and should accomodate the gtx260 without any problems and from the look of the case it should be big enough for the card,so everythings fine there
so in regards to another power supply,well you dont want to splashing out on a high end power supply,so i recommend the “Antec – EarthWatts 650-Watt ATX CPU Power Supply”( http://www.bestbuy.com/site/Antec+-+EarthWatts+650-Watt+ATX+CPU+Power+Supply/8774267.p?id=1204331807576&skuId=8774267 )…antec psu,s are top notch and are very stable and with 80 PLUS certificity and loads of connectors this will do a excellent job
another slightly more expensive power supply worth considering is the “Corsair – 650W ATX CPU Power Supply “( http://www.bestbuy.com/site/Corsair+-+650W+ATX+CPU+Power+Supply/9358269.p?id=1218090911783&skuId=9358269 ) …these are the best power supplys there are..and are popular among enthusiasts who demand the best components, and another unique feature among corsair psu,s are their single +12v rails…however with 60A on this single rail this is more than enough for the above system and card
note : allthough i personally think the gtx260 will fit in the Compaq – Presario Desktop dont quote me on this…..the gtx260 is a big graphics card and around 10″ in length….and with the Compaq – Presario Desktop measuring nearlly 17″ in length you should just about make it…and the problem can sometimes be fixed by moving the sata hard drive down a few bays,this will then give you the few centimeters you require….
also make sure the power supply you buy has the required pci-express power connectors.and these are Two 4-pin and one 6-pin PCI Express supplementary power connectors,,,however BFG supply adapters with the gtx260 which can convert 4pin molex into the required connectors
