Top 4 Upcoming Xbox 360 Games

2010 is set to be a big year for Xbox 360 fanatics, with several popular franchises receiving drooled-over updates and many totally original games arriving as well. Fans of action, adventure, shooting games, and RPGs will all be pleased, and the year will be culminating in new installment to the massively popular Halo series.

BioShock 2

BioShock 2, arriving February 9, 2010, is one of the most eagerly awaited games arriving for the Xbox 360 console. The original BioShock received rave reviews from critics and consumers alike, and BioShock 2 is set to continue the franchise with game play improvements and a more streamlined storyline. The game includes both a single-player campaign and competitive multiplayer modes, allowing for increased replay value compared to the original BioShock. Fans of the first game may miss some of the mystery and wonder that was present in BioShock, but those looking for a consistent first-person shooter with RPG elements and plenty of quirks won’t be disappointed.

Alan Wake

Alan Wake, an action-thriller from Remedy development studio, looks to be Microsoft’s Xbox 360-exclusive answer to Sony’s Heavy Rain. That’s not to say that games share too many similarities, other than dark moods and the feeling that the player is controlling an interactive movie. In fact, much of the game play in Alan Wake harkens back to Silent Hill and many other games in the horror genre. Alan Wake is all about character development, choices, and the eerie feeling that everyone you meet just might be out to get you. Mix in some stealth game play, a semi-persistent world, and the occasional bit of twisted humor, and you’ve got a game that Xbox 360 owners will want to play. Alan Wake arrives April 13, 2010.

Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell: Conviction

Splinter Cell: Conviction is the fifth entry to the popular Splinter Cell series. As usual, players will take control of Sam Fisher, an operative who uses advanced weaponry and gadgets, as well as stealth, to get the job done. The game includes a single-player campaign, a cooperative-only mode with four additional missions, and an alternate Deniable Ops mode with unique game mechanics designed for a quick fix of the game. Early impressions of the game are excellent, with challenging, dynamic AI, beautiful graphics, and an intriguing storyline unlike anything scene in previous Splinter Cell games.

Halo: Reach

Although we don’t know much about Halo: Reach just yet, there are few things that are certain: Bungie, the creators of the Halo 1, 2, and 3, are developing the game, new characters will be introduced, and a trailer is available, and it looks amazing. The trailer hints that a few of your favorite old weapons will be back, such as the battle rifle and pistol. In addition, the end of the trailer mentions that there will be a multi-player beta of Halo: Reach’s online play, and the invitation to the demo is included with Halo: ODST. Beyond this, details regarding game play and storyline are up in the air, but players interested in the lore of Halo will be familiar with the planet Reach from reading Halo novels. Only time will tell if Halo: Reach can live up to, or even exceed the standards set by the earlier games in the franchise.

All of these games will be arriving in 2010 for the Xbox 360 console.
